The Ipswich Star Northern Bypass recent "Debate"- with apologies to Bob Dylan!

How many roads must a man walk down....

.....the answer, my friend is blowing in the wind, the answer, is blowing in the wind."

SOCS know both EADT and Star have run articles Air Pollution and recently on the  Northern "Bypass'- or relief Road… We know of the AP problem at Kesgrave also recently.

Calls for more monitoring sites in Kesgrave for air pollution November 2016

The latest Ipswich Air Pollution  report went to council this week, and suggests a growing problem.

This is SOCS  contribution to the Northern By Pass debate.

Regarding the conversation/"campaign" re Northern By Pass ( suggested we understand from readers locally)  and the Star "Campaign" for   Northern "Bypass'- or relief Road................

It's good that Department of Health has costed this impact as between £18 ( health Impacts)  and £ 57 billion (overall costs. The following will need to be taken seriously into account. There appears to be a growing legal precedent to.

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) says air pollution in England contributes to the deaths of 25,000 people each year. The  guideline is for;

Local authority staff working in:public health, including environmental health

SOCS and the NFPG  have just responded to IBC CSR and Local Plan Consultation.
We have yet to find where the Public Health Impacts from Air Pollution we asked for at the IBC  Inquiry are written into the IBC Core Strategy Review modifications?

A local resident has written,
"Earlier this week I had the results back from the Friends of the Earth Monitoring Kit for Stoke Bridge - It is an indication of the situation.

The result was 41.7 µg/m3 (micrograms per cubic metre) of Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)

This is above the level at which the annual legal limit is set.

The European Union has set the legal limit for NO2 pollution at an annual mean of 40µg/m3.

I also attach a recent letter from Ben Gummer in reply to my email to him below the dotted line."
