Suffolk County Council Rights of Way Consultation and impact of Ipswich Northern Route

                    " Public rights of way

Find out about how we maintain public rights of way as part of the public highways network in Suffolk.

Public rights of way provide a healthy, safe and sustainable way to access the countryside and other local services.

They are used extensively and generate investment in the Suffolk economy through tourism.

Suffolk has 3,500 miles of public rights of way and over 12,000 acres of open access. This provides car-free access throughout Suffolk, from bustling market towns to open heath land and other areas of outstanding natural beauty. "

Tonight Coddenham Parish Council are holding a public meeting to discuss the proposed INR bypass. Please attend and we suggest some solidarity is achieved with other Parishes who support the Stop! campaign.

It is at the Community and Sports Hall at 7.30pm.

Chair Matthew Hicks is District Councillor - we do hope he will attend!

He is also;

 A gentle reminder SOCS suggest ....... that we appear to have a General Election in the planning............

Coddenham Residents have written the following on the Parish Council website;

#stopthebypass #saveourcountryside

 'www.stopipswichnorthernbypass.co.uk

 The STOP! CAMPAIGN is opposed to all three routes. Almost thirty villages have now amalgamated under one umbrella to consolidate a speedy objection to ALL THREE ROUTES with the most impact.

 With reference to the above, my husband and I attended a STOP! THE NORTHERN ROUTE Volunteers Meeting in Hasketon two days ago, chaired by Nick Deacon and Nick Green and attended by ITV East Anglia where we volunteered to help to raise public awareness of the Suffolk County Council's consultation process which ends on Friday 13 September 2019.

 As one of the villages at risk in the proposed route plans, and as we live in Coddenham, my husband and I offered to help

A target of 10,000 signatures on the STOP! PETITION is the aim. To this end, we would be most grateful for some volunteer help in speaking to everyone in and around Coddenham as soon as possible.

 East Suffolk Core Strategy Local Plan Review Examination Hearings - Week 1 Notice of these open public hearings.

As suggested at the Swilland & Witnesham event, suggest 'Stop' spread the word...... as Day morning is crucial for the Northern Ipswich By Pass Issue.

Demo outside?,  attendees with tee shirts inside?....  might be good to show inspector strength of local feeling as he will be assessing "Statement of Community Involvement" on this Tuesday.

"Please find attached agendas for the first weeks hearings.

All sessions will start at 9.30 and then again at 2pm. Tea/coffee will be available from 9am. There are no lunch facilities in the building, but there is small coffee shop in the business park. I have attached a link of travel/parking information.( I have noted there is also additional parking on some extra ground to the rear of the business park)

Suffolk Coastal and Ipswich Borough Council's latest- Local Plan Reviews- The community responds

Residents of both Suffolk Coastal and Ipswich groups and parish councils have responded with concern to the consultations for both councils which ended yesterday.

Their views will be posted here soon.

Recent Tuddenham parish council meeting expressed  concerns;

Policy SCLP 12.24 Land at Humber Doucy Lane

It was agreed to make representations on the basis of both Soundness & Legality –

  • It does not comply with the Suffolk Coastal District Council Statement of Community Involvements as the Parish Council had not previously been consulted regarding this site (it was not mentioned in First Draft of the Local Plan).

  • It fails the test of Soundness as it has not been Positively Prepared in that it does not meet the needs of Tuddenham St Martin as evidenced in the Village Review 2016 (communicated to the District Council Planning Dept. in various meetings),and in that development of this site would hasten the encroachment of Ipswich towards Tuddenham.

  • The Ipswich Borough Council Local Plan Draft had been received recently via email (including details of the proposed development of this site) and the Parish Council would fully discuss this at the next meeting prior to replying by the deadline date of 25th March 2019.

One interesting document which was revisited during this process by groups makes interesting reading.

Update of the Haven Gateway Green Infrastructure Strategy for the Ipswich Policy Area

https://www.ipswich.gov.uk/sites/default/files/ipa_green_infrastructure_report_-_final_published_october_2015.pdf

It validates the local concerns raised on the apparent disregard for local green infrastructure within these plans and indicates that it's findings on this matter haven't been sufficiently taken into account.  It illustrates the further intrusion into the countryside and the erosion of local green spaces, green rim and Green Corridors with their important ecological networks of trees, hedgerows and small stepping stone areas for local wildlife - all which are further threatened.
